At the beginning of class we reviewed #1, #2, and #3 questions from the DBQ. Majority of the class did well, but we just had to fine tune a few things so the students understood how to properly answer the prompts. Afterwards, we continued with the powerpoint and discussed the writers of the Renaissance such as Machiavelli, Dante, and Erasmus.

Today in class we began a Document Based Question (DBQ) on the Renaissance. The students had to complete sections 1, 2, and 3. By answering these questions the students will learn and be able to answer the larger overall essay question at the top of it. Next, the students began taking notes over the lecture/interactive presentation up to Renaissance Man. We discussed where and why the Renaissance began and it's focus.
Today we finished discussing the Power of the Church and the Crusades. Afterwards, the class received their study guide for Unit 3 Test.
We continued with the Middle Ages in class. We had a class reading over Feudalism, the political and economic system based on land ownership and personal loyalty, that is very clear and to the point. Highlighted in the readings is the structure of feudalism and the role of the manor system. Additionally, there are questions that follow the reading.
Today we discussed Charlemagne and how he unified the Germanic Kingdoms. We looked at how invasions of western Europe altered the economy, the government, and culture. There is a PPT and graphic organizer with today's lesson.
Happy Friday!!! We continued to work on the Africa Packets. Afterwards, we discussed the anniversary of 9/11 and watched a memorial service.
We are almost to Friday!!! Today in class we began an Africa Packet. We discussed the Saharan Trade Routes, Ibn Battuta and Ibn Sina. The packet can be completed from the readings and textbook.
We began class with a warm up review of Islam. This included a review of the 5 pillars of faith, where Islam originated from, the holiest city to the Muslim people, what Muslim's refer to as God, and the reasons for the split between Sunni and Shia Muslims. Next, the followed along with a Prezi on the Islamic Empire. Last, the students began a reading on the travels of Ibn Battuta and The Life of Ibn Sina.
Welcome back and I hope you had a great Labor Day!!! We started Unit 3 in class today by learning about the Silk Road. This included the route, the difficulties of travel, the products that were traded, and the cultural exchanges that took place along the Silk Road. The class did NYSTROM Atlas Work and once completed we did a popcorn reading about the Silk Road.
